VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
March 3, 1952
A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on March 3, 1952.
Members present:
E.A. Parent, Mayor; Harry Dow, R.A. Ryding, Trustees; H.A. Briggs, Clerk
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Parent. The minutes of the last meeting were read and
approved.
Mr. R.G. Wurl of the Greyhound Bus Co. was present and there was some discussion about the
service given at the local bus depot. Mr. Wurl promised to talk things over with Marley McPherson
owner of the Elk Café where the bus depot is located.
A motion was made by Ryding and seconded by Briggs to request the clerk to write Alfred Elmer
requesting him to do something about enclosing his minnow tanks in the rear of the bakery to make
them safe for children. This was an account of the recent accident which nearly caused the drowning
of a boy. The motion carried.
The matter of parallel parking on the street across from the Garvey building was discussed. The
clerk was asked to have two “Parallel Parking” signs ordered for the space between the blacksmith
shop and the corner of Princeton Street and Sixth St.
