VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
April 7, 1952
A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on April 7, 1952.
Members present:
E.A. Parent, Mayor; Harry Dow, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ryding, Trustees; H.A. Briggs,
Clerk
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Parent. The minutes of the last meeting were read and
approved.
Building permits of I.L. Pink and Martin Syring were approved.
Mr. Wurl of the Greyhound Bus Co. was present also a delegation from the Community Club. There
was considerable discussion in regard to moving the Bus Depot as the new owner of the Elk Café
refuses to have the depot there. The main question was about parking. Mr. Wurl finally decided to
have the bus depot at Shadick’s for the present and have the bus parking remain where it is now.
John Vaca was present and inquired about the rate for electricity at his farm home which is inside
the village limits. The matter was referred to George Wombill of the Light and Power Commission.
There was discussion in regard to fire calls to Otsego Township as this township refuses to
cooperation with the Village regarding payment of calls. No action was taken.
The annual library report of the Library Board was approved and filed with the village clerk.
A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Ryding to transfer $3000.00 from the General Fund
to the Road and Bridge Fund for the purpose of paying Sherburne County bill for black topping
streets. Carried.
Trustee Bailey was asked to look into the matter of a new location for a village dump as we can no
longer use the present site.
Earl Hettrick reported that it was necessary to have the Liquor Store signs repainted. He was asked
to see Russell Sass in regard to the work.
