Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the position description and pay range for liquor store delivery driver/clerk.
Background/Discussion
About a year ago some forward-thinking communities such as Edina and Lakeville added delivery to their
liquor store services. We talked about adding this service but did not become serious about it until recently.
It has been successful in other communities and we would like to try it here.
To start, delivery times would be limited to the hours of 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. We are working on defining a
limited service delivery area. If this proves to be a successful service, we will consider expanding the delivery
area, possibly into neighboring communities.
We have developed a position description for the delivery driver and expect that when they are not
processing delivery orders, they would be performing other duties in the store. The pay is slightly higher
than the part-time liquor clerk pay is because of the additional responsibility and specialized service. Drivers
will be instructed that they cannot accept tips as that would violate Minnesota Gift Law.
Financial Impact
Pay range for this position will be $15.00 to $18.70. The steps are as follows:
A B C D E
15.00 15.93 16.85 17.78 18.70
Costs will be included in the budgeted part-time pay for the liquor stores.
