RESOLUTION FOR THE CITY OF ELK RIVER
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF HUD SECTION 202
WHEREAS, the fastest growing group among the elderly population
are the very old (aged 75-85) and where the prevalence
of frailty is greatest over age 85; and,
WHEREAS, Guardian Angels Foundation of Elk River, Inc., in its
mission, has demonstrated commitment to the needs of
older persons by providing resources and service
programs specifically for the elderly; and,
Guardian Angels Foundation desires to ensure a high
.. quality of life for the independent elderly, the frail
.. .... elderly/the low and very low income elderly by
.,providing a continuum of Housing and Congregate
Services; and,
the vast majority of low income and very low
older people, their ability to continue living
own community depends on availability of
housing and community-based services; and,
The Board of Directors of Guardian Angels Foundation
of Elk River, Inc. has endorsed the philosophy of
Aging in Place; and,
the National Affordable Housing Act under Section 801
has modified the Section 202 program to provide for
Capital Advances for Supportive Housing for the
Elderly;. and,
Guardian Angels Foundation has identified a long
waiting list for low and very low income elderly
housing; and,
WHEREAS, Guardian Angels Foundation of Elk River, Inc. has
voted to apply for Capital Advance Funds to develop
and construct 53 units of housing with necessary
services.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the
City of Elk River unanimously supports the Guardian
Angels Foundation in its efforts to secure a HUD
Section 202 Fund Reservation.
