Background/Discussion
The Together Elk River subcommittee continues to meet bi-monthly and is making great strides in
bringing awareness and engaging the community to shop local and support small businesses.
Electronic Billboards across Elk River display the Together Elk River Logo. Stickers,window decals and
yard signs continue to be distributed. The municipal liquor stores continue to distribute campaign items
at each location. In total, more than 60 decals and stickers have been distributed at the farmers market.
The coloring contest have since gained momentum and completed coloring sheets have been posted to
social media.
The Subcommittee is now focused on coordinating and engaging the community with the "Together Elk
River"week from August 23-29, 2020. This week will be focused on retail, restaurants, service industries
and banks offering daily activities and giveaways to drive people to their businesses and reinforce that we
are all in this together.
Financial Impact
At their April 29, 2020, meeting,the EDA re-allocated $9,000 from the 2020 marketing, conference, and
travel budgets that will go unspent due to the COVID-19 pandemic to this marketing initiative.
