Action Requested
Receive an update on the Together Elk River Campaign.
Background/Discussion
The Together Elk River subcommittee continues to meet weekly and is making great strides in bringing
awareness and engaging the community to shop local and support small businesses.
The campaign has distributed 100 yard signs, 61 decals, and hundreds of stickers to residents and businesses,
via the municipal liquor stores, Chamber of Commerce, and the weekly farmers market. Electronic billboards
across Elk River display the Together Elk River Logo. Downtown banners are being printed to showcase the
six focus areas of the campaign;Dines, Shops,Plays, Grows, Supports, and Gives.
With the 100 yard signs distributed,and more requests coming in,there is a need to allocate funds to purchase
50 more for a cost of approximately$250.
We have designated the week of August 23—29, 2020 is Support Together Elk River Spirit meek. The week is set
to encompass the six focus areas and will feature different themes and ways to support our local community,
while having a bit of fun!
Financial Impact
At their April 29, 2020, meeting,the EDA re-allocated $9,000 from the 2020 marketing, conference, and travel
budgets that will go unspent due to the COVID-19 pandemic to this marketing initiative.
We have identified $950 that will go unspent in 2020,which could be reallocated to this campaign.
Mission/Policy/Goal
Together Elk River is a community initiative to encourage, engage, and support local businesses,non-profits, and
neighbors in need through challenging times.
