I. Call Meeting to Order/Roll Call
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River Economic
Development Authority Together Elk River Sub-Committee was called to order at
9:03 a.m. by Jennifer Wagner.
2. Consent Agenda
Motion by Charlie and seconded by Debbi to approve the July 20, 2020
Meeting Minutes, with the following additions/revisions to the TER
Week discussion:
The chamber is taking the lead on engaging the business community and the non-
profits to participate in the Together Elk River Spirit Week. Charlie and Jennifer are
working with Star News on two articles (not ads) that highlight the Together Elk
River Spirit Week. Motion carried 5-0.
3. Together Elk River Marketing Campaign
Banners: The subcommittee clarified that they would like the kids names and house
number blurred on the Support Banner. Kaylin will blur those items and resend the
pic to Jennifer. The Dine Banner still needs a picture.Jennifer and Colleen will work
on staging a Dine pic on Tuesday at Sammies Pizza or CHOW Grill. The group
would like clarification if the banner bars can be moved—so can be perpendicular to
the street or are they set to parallel with street. Colleen will get clarification.
TER Week: The week is August 23 -29` •The group discussed the theme of each day
and confirmed that the week would run Monday—Friday and not include the
weekend. The theme for each day is as follows:
Monday—Make a Difference Day (Gives) —volunteer and/or donate to your
favorite local non-profit
Tuesday—Tourist Tuesday (Plays) —explore Elk River
Wednesday—Wear it Wednesday (Shops) wear your business swag attire,Elk River
attire—sidewalk sales
Thursday—Take out Thursday (Dines) —order take out from your favorite
restaurant and then post/tag on social media outlets
Friday—Find it Friday (Grows) —find TER yard signs and decals, show off your
decals by posting a pic of it to social media
The Support theme is not highlighted during the weekly campaign but will be
highlighted in the name of the week; "Together Elk River Supports Spirit Week".
The subcommittee thought recognizing the week at the August 3 City Council
meeting would be preferred. Colleen will create a proclamation for the Mayor to read
at the meeting.
The subcommittee would like to see where the Together Elk River budget is at so
they can decide to purchase Facebook Ads or ads in the Star News. Kaylin will
discuss with Cal,if staff can create ads and cover photo for sponsored ads and if the
chamber can then use them.
Next meeting is scheduled for:
a. Monday,August 3, 2020 at 9:00 a.m.
4. Adjournment
Moved by Debbi and seconded by Charlie to adjourn the meeting. Motion
carried 5-0.
There being no further business,Jennifer Wagner adjourned the meeting of the Elk
River Economic Development Authority Together Elk River Subcommittee at 9:57
a.m.
