Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the hiring of Micaela Strand to the position of part-time cablecaster effective October 7,
2020.
Background/Discussion
The part-time cablecaster position has been vacant since August of 2019. We were unsuccessful finding a
candidate in October of 2019.
After research and concluded our pay was below market, Council approved an adjustment to the pay in July and
we went back to market. This position was not part of our Compensation Plan. We received six applications and,
following interviews and background check, recommend Micaela Strand for the position.
Ms. Strand graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Animation and Graphic
Communication from Minnesota State University. She worked a couple of internships during her schooling and
owns her own business as a freelance designer, photographer, and production assistant.
Ms. Strand will be paid in accordance with the Compensation Plan for Non-Organized Employees. Ms. Strand will
be required to participate in PERA.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
