Action Requested
1. Presentation of funds raised by the Liquor Operation for the Fire Department.
2. Adopt, by motion, a resolution acknowledging cash and silent auction donations.
Background/Discussion
As a part of their promotion and marketing, Molson Coors proposed a hyper-localized Fire Department
fundraiser to the Minnesota Municipal Beverage Association.
Staff decided this would be good recognition for the liquor operation and opportunity to support the Fire
Department. Customers were asked if they wanted to make a monetary donation at time of purchase, physical
items were donated for a silent auction, and the liquor operation pledged a one dollar per case of Coors sold
during the promotional period of 8/1/20- 9/11/20.
An event was held at Northbound and Westbound Liquor on Friday, August 21, including a ladder truck, jaws of
life extraction event, food trucks, and silent auction items. Overall, $11,750 was raised for the Elk River Fire
Department to be used towards thermal imaging and extrication equipment.
