Presentation of funds raised by the Liquor Operation for the Fire Department. 2. Adopt, by motion, a resolution acknowledging cash and silent auction donations. Background/Discussion As a part of their promotion and marketing, Molson Coors proposed a hyper-localized Fire Department fundraiser to the Minnesota Municipal Beverage Association. Staff decided this would be good recognition for the liquor operation and opportunity to support the Fire Department. Customers were asked if they wanted to make a monetary donation at time of purchase, physical items were donated for a silent auction, and the liquor operation pledged a one dollar per case of Coors sold during the promotional period of 8/1/20- 9/11/20. An event was held at Northbound and Westbound Liquor on Friday, August 21, including a ladder truck, jaws of life extraction event, food trucks, and silent auction items. Overall, $11,750 was raised for the Elk River Fire Department to be used towards thermal imaging and extrication equipment. Financial Impact N/A Mission/Policy/Goal The Elk River value statements include components to foster a culture of exceptional service and community participation and to encourage and inspire diverse and meaningful engagement. Updated: August 2020 City of Elk River City Council Resolution 20-____ A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Elk River Acknowledging Contributions WHEREAS, the City of Elk River is grateful to all civic groups, organizations, and individuals for their contributions to the community; and WHEREAS, the City of Elk River raised $10,109 in fundraising at the liquor stores and silent auction. Silent auction items were donated from Coors, Dahlheimer Distributing, Diageo, Bernick’s, Holiday Inn, Making Memories, Sacred Leaf, Aegir, Home Sweet Honey, Johnson Brothers, Breakthru Beverage, Gallo, Phillips, Voyager Brewing, Daddy-O’s, Life’s Retreat, Elk River Meats, Shiner Beer, Elk River Golf Club, Play It Again Sports, Blue Egg Bakery, Olde Main Eatery, Pizza Man, Board and Brush, the Elk River Fire Auxiliary and the public with the intent it be used by the Elk River Fire department for the purchase of thermal imaging and extrication equipment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council, by at least four-fifths vote, to acknowledge the support and commend Coors, Dahlheimer Distributing, Diageo, Bernick’s, Holiday Inn, Making Memories, Sacred Leaf, Aegir, Home Sweet Honey, Johnson Brothers, Breakthru Beverage, Gallo, Phillips, Voyager Brewing, Daddy-O’s, Life’s Retreat, Elk River Meats, Shiner Beer, Elk River Golf Club, Play It Again Sports, Blue Egg Bakery, Olde Main Eatery, Pizza Man, Board and Brush, the Elk River Fire Auxiliary and the public for their donation.
