VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
September 7, 1954
A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Sept 7, 1954.
Members present:
Edward Schwartz, Mayor; Harry Dow, Dan Bailey, August Meyer, Trustees; H.A.
Briggs, Clerk
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Schwartz. The minutes of the last meeting were read and
approved.
Roy DeMars was present and asked if there could be more adequate fire protection in his part of
town also said that the street past his place is obstructed so that it can’t be used. The matter will be
investigated.
Kendall Vasser met with the Council regarding some assistance for his mother. He was asked to find
out from the county welfare board what they would allow per month as old age assistance.
The matter of fluoridation of water was brought up again, Dr. Roehlke, Dr. McNair and Albert
Bailey discussed it with the council. Water Supt Richard Halter also was asked about it. The matter
was deferred for the present.
Lester Derr reported on the progress of the sewer extension on Fourth St.
