VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
October 4, 1954
A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Oct 4, 1954.
Members present:
Edward Schwartz, Mayor; Harry Dow, Dan Bailey, August Meyer, Trustees; H.A.
Briggs, Clerk
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Schwartz. The minutes of the last meeting were read and
approved.
After some discussion regarding the street department a motion was made by Dow and seconded by

Briggs to raise salary of Lester Derr to $400.00 per month, starting Nov 1. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Meyer to transfer $15,000.00 from the General Fund
to the Road and Bridge Fund. Carried.
A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Dow to authorize the transfer of $2,000.00 from the
Liquor Fund to the General Fund. Motion carried.
Fire Chief Harry Dreissig reported on the activities of the Fire Department.
Lester Derr discussed with the Council the possibility of using well points for fire protection in parts
of the village where city water is not available.
Application for building permits were approved for Elmore K Ostby, Mrs. Neal Keogh, Abner
Lero, and Mrs. Russell Sass.
