VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
December 15, 1954
A special meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Dec 15, 1954.
Members present:
Edward Schwartz, Mayor; Harry Dow, Dan Bailey, August Meyer, Trustees; H.A.
Briggs, Clerk
The purpose of the meeting was to consider an application by the local American Legion for a club
liquor license in the new Legion Hall. Albert Bailey, Commander and delegation from the Legion
met with the Council also A.E. Balow, Liquor Store Manager and John MacGibbon, Village
attorney.
After considerable discussion a secret ballot was taken as to whether the license should be granted.
Results: No-3, Yes-1. The license was refused.
