VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
March 5, 1956
The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was called to order on March 5, 1956 by Mayor
Schwartz. All members were present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
A representative of the Minn Benefit Association was present and explained a group insurance plan
for village employees. After some discussion, a motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Meyer
that the proposition be tabled. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Dow to transfer $12,000.00 from the General Fund
to the Road and Bridge fund. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Briggs to transfer $8,000.00 from the Liquor Fund
to the General Funds. Motion carried.
Building permit for Houlton Investment Co. was approved.
A motion was made by Dow and seconded by Bailey to authorize fire department to purchase one
rebuilt portable pump. Motion carried.
Lester Derr was authorized to purchase six “yield” signs to be used on certain village streets.
