VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
April 2, 1956
The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was called to order on April 2, 1956 by Mayor
Schwartz with all members were present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Lester Derr was present and there was discussion regarding the summer recreation program and also
street program for 1956. Derr will look into the needs of street improvements and report.
Harry Dressig, Fire Chief was present and reported on fire calls, also discussed the matter of having
contracts with neighboring townships regarding fire calls. It is planned to call a meeting of nearby
townships to talk over contracts with the Elk River Fire Department.
A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Briggs to allow Oliver Micheau an increase of $5.00
per month for use of his card. This was to offset the increase in coat of car insurance on account of
being used by police officer.. Motion carried.
