VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
January 7, 1957
The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was called to order by Mayor Schwartz on
January 7, 1957 with all members present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Newly elected Trustee Fred Sandberg was present.
Results of the December election:

A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Dow to renew On and Off beer license of Clemens
Stelpflug. Motion carried, all voting in favor.
Salesman for the liquor dispenser was at the meeting. He wishes to put in one unit at Liquor Store
on trial. Council decided to wait until Al Balow Is on duty before having it put in.
A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Dow to appoint John E. McGibbon as Village
attorney for the coming year.
A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Meyer to appoint Mrs. Tom Duggan and Mrs.
George Dietz on the Library Board. Carried.
The clerk was asked to write the League for sample contract with townships regarding fire
department calls and also to order supply of dog tags.
A motion was made by Dow and seconded by Sandberg to appoint Joe Bailey on the Light and
Power Commission. Motion carried.
Mayor Schwartz appointed the following committees for 1957:

Upon motion by Dow and second by Sandberg Council approved the transfer of $5,000.00 from the
Liquor fund to the General fund.
A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Dow to appoint Dr. Zim Charmans of Board of
Health. Carried.
