08-05-1957 VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING August 5, 1957 The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was called to order by Mayor Schwartz on August 5, 1957. All members were present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Sheriff Goenner was present. He asked permission for the County to use the village pump house to store equipment for the County two-way radio system and place the antenna on the water tower. A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Sandberg to allow the use of the pump house for this purpose. Carried. Russell Sass met with the council and complained about the condition of a dog enclosure next to his property. The clerk was instructed to write the chairman of the village Board of Health in regard to the case. The Council decided to close the bathing beach on Saturday, August 17 and have notice placed in the Star News. The clerk reported the result of the recent bond election. 257 against and 57 for. A motion was made by Sandberg and seconded by Dow to participate in the County two-way radio project. Motion carried. Trustee, Sandberg was asked to see about having signs printed regarding building permits. Motion by Briggs and seconded by Meyer to transfer $4,500.00 from Liquor Fund to Sewer Rental Fund. Also, to add to that amount enough to invest in a certificate of deposit at Bank of Elk River. Motion carried. Hilmer Bartelt was at the meeting asking about a club liquor license for the American Legion. There was considerable discussion about this as to whether the Council can legally issue such a license.
