09-03-1957 VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING September 3, 1957 The regular monthly meeting of the Elk River Council was called to order on September 3, 1957 with all members present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. August Leider was present and asked for an advance in wages. It was thought best not to consider raising wages at least until the first of next year. A motion was made by Sandberg and seconded by Dow that Leider’s request be denied. Motion carried. Building permits were approved for Richard Halter, Leonard Jelle, Hugo Lenz, Harold ???. No action was taken on application of Harold Adams for erection of a fence as the Council does not consider a fence as a structure. A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Sandberg on amending village ordinances No. 39 and 39a to give village right to issue club license for sale of liquor if village so desires. Roll call vote: Briggs – yes, Meyer – no, Sandberg – yes, Dow – no, Mayor – yes. Motion carried. The request for American Legion for a club license was tabled until special meeting called for September 16. The following bills were ordered paid: Oswald Pub. Co. – justice blanks - $3.83 Rosenwald-Cooper – signs - $14.66 Dr. Chas Zim – services - $5.00 Sheriff’s office – lodging - $5.00 Mickerson Bros. repairs - $10.78 George Moos – police $156.65 ??
