VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
December 2, 1957
The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Municipal Building December
2, 1957 with all members present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
The Council appointed the following on the Library Board: Robert Kemper, Paul Siegler, Mrs. Roy
Ryding.
A motion by Meyer and seconded by Dow to transfer $6,000.00 from the Liquor Fund to the
General Fund. Carried.
A motion by Dow was made to transfer $3,500.00 from the General Fund to the Road and Bridge
Fund and $300.00 from the Sewer Rental Fund to the General Fund. Motion carried. This transfer
from the Sewer Rental Fund was to pay part of maintenance of the sewer.
A motion was made by Sandberg and seconded by Dow to repay money borrowed from the Sewer
Rental Fund for the purpose of paying off registered warrants, the balance being $4,774.57. Motion
carried.
The Council requested the Clerk to invest $6,000.00 of the Sewer Rental Fund in a Certificate of
Deposit.
There was a discussion regarding sewer and electrical installations. It was the opinion of the Council
that there should be a fee for these installations and that they should be inspected. The matter will
be taken up at a later meeting.
A motion was made by Dow and seconded by Briggs to authorize the Village Marshall to appoint
necessary deputies to assist him in control of traffic at high school football and basketball games.
Carried.
The matter of Village zoning and street numbering was discussed. It was tabled until the January
meeting.
Building permit was issued to Merrit Brown.
