VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
April 10, 1958
Upon call of the Mayor a special meeting was held at the Municipal Building on April 30, 1958.
Mr. Lindsay and Mr. Milla met with the Council and made a preliminary report of survey for a sewer
disposal plant. They gave information regarding a lagoon type system and also regarding the regular
type disposal plant. More detailed report will be filed later.
George Dietz and Ben Roper were present regarding raising the level of the street past Mr. Dietz’s
store. A motion was made by Sandberg and seconded by Meyer to re-route drainage tile to go down
Lincoln Street and then into railroad ditch. Also to raise grade of street along railroad three and one
half feet. Motion carried.
Liquor Store Manager Al Balow was present and discussed with the Council the matter of salaries at
the store. A motion was made by Bergerson and seconded by Briggs to allow a twenty-five dollar a
month raise for all bar tenders beginning May 1, 1958. Carried.
A motion was made by Sandberg and seconded by Bergerson to reconsider motion of April 7
meeting regarding amendment of ordinances 39 and 39a and take the matter up again at the next
meeting. Motion carried.
