Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the low bid and authorize the execution of a contract with Elevation Coating, LLC for the
painting and restoration of the Jackson Street Water Tower.
Background/Discussion
Staff advertised and received bids for the painting and restoration of the Jackson Street Water Tower. Four bids
were received ranging from $164,900 to $455,000. The low bid was submitted by Elevation Coating, LLC.
The contractor will begin work on the project next spring depending on weather, and once they begin work the
project must be completed within 45-days.
Financial Impact
The city received a grant from the Minnesota Historical Society to cover a significant portion of the project. Elk
River Municipal Utilities is providing matching funds to cover the remaining costs with the requirement that the
tower and the property be formally transferred to city ownership.
Mission/Policy/Goal
The request meets the Council's mission to reflect the culture of citizens by restoring a significant structure
from Elk River's history.
