VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
April 6, 1942
A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Bldg on April 6, 1942 at 7:30 P.M.
Members present:
M.C. Tesch, Mayor; Frank Nickerson, E.L. Shadick, and G.A. Bailey, Trustees; J.
Clinton Walker, Clerk
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Ophan of the County Welfare Office suggested that we allow Chas Adams a six dollar food
stamp book for the month of April. A motion was made by E.L. Shadick and seconded by G.A.
Bailey allowing Chas Adams a six dollar food stamp book for the month of April. Motion carried.
A motion was made by E.L. Shadick and seconded by G.A. Bailey allowing the following pinball
license at 50.00 for each machine. A.E. Eklund (1), Ida Buryoyne (1), W. Johnson (2), R.C.O.
Reilly(2), Leo Varville (2), John Blocker (1), Don Havey (2). Motion carried.
A motion was made by G.A. Bailey and seconded by Clinton Walker granting non-intoxicating malt
liquor license “off” and “on” sale to the following:
Walter Johnson of the Canadian Club
John Blocker at the Cozy Café
Donald Hovey of Hovey’s Care. Motion carried.
A motion was made by G.A. Bailey and seconded by E.L. Shadick granting building permits to the
following: Leslie Matz, August Leider, Donald Cox, Roger Booth. Motion carried.
A motion was made by E.L. Shadick and seconded by G.A. Bailey appointing Harold Keays as
Supb. of Parks at a salary of $20.00 month for the summer months. Motion carried.
Mr. Clifford Martineau asked that a street light be placed on his corner as some of the present lights
would have to be moved because of the new road.
The Clerk was instructed to write to P. Caisncron about information in regard to cleaning the water
mains.
