07-06-1942 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING July 6, 1942 A regular meeting was held at the Village Hall on July 6, 1942 at 8:00 P.M. Members present: M.C. Tesch, Pres; Frank Nickerson, E.L. Shadick, and G.A. Bailey, Trustees; J. Clinton Walker, Clerk A letter from Miss Gladys Hulbert was read before the Council in which she requested the Village of Elk River to furnish her the following various clothing total $12.54, room rent for July at $12.00 – a grocery order and a round trip fuel ticket to Mpls. To see a doctor there. After considerable discussion a motion was made by G.A. Bailey allowing Miss Hulbert $12.54 for wearing apparel, $12.00 for room rent, $12.00 food stamps and an authorization for an office call and examination to any doctor in St. Cloud. The motion was seconded by E.L. Shadick and carried. A motion was made by Frank Nickerson and seconded by G.A. Bailey granting a Pinball Machine license to E.L. Shadick. A motion was made by E.L. Shadick and seconded by Frank Nickerson allowing Mary C. Garvey a license to sell cigarettes at retail at Garvey’s Café. A motion was made by G.A. Bailey and seconded by Clinton Walker to allow L.K. Houlton a permit to move a one family dwelling from Lot 8-9 Blk 22 Village of E.R. to Lot 142 Blk 2 Houlton add. A motion was made by G.A. Bailey and seconded by Frank Nickerson and reimbursed Mrs. Andrew Frederickson the sum of $34.36 being sidewalk and curb assessment to collected in error.
