VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
December 7, 1942
The Village Council of the Village of Elk River was held in the Municipal building on December 7,
1942 held at 8:00 p.m. with the following members present M.C. Teach, Frank Nickerson, E.L.
Shadick, G.A. Bailey, A.F. Roehlke.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
A committee member of the Fire department and consisting of Knobbs, Nelson, Loggatz and
Henry Olson, advocated purchase of high-powered sirens. After discussion it was decided to find
out whether they are available at this time.
A.E. Eklund, Virg Safford and ? Donahue represented the American Legion in behalf of a memorial
board to be placed at City Park. This board would provide space for 225 names of fallen soldiers
and sailors who have entered the service from this vicinity. They asked the Council help to defray
the cost of this board to the extent of $127.00. It was moved by Frank Nickerson, seconded by E.
L. Shadick and passed that this sum be paid by the Village.
Donald Hovey ask for refund on his beer license owing to his entrance in armed forces. E.L.
Shadick moved and Frank Nickerson seconded this refund be granted.
