REGULAR MEETING VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
August 7, 1944
Regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held in the Municipal building on August 7,
1944
All members were present.
Bids for the _o_d on the fair grounds were opened and the bid of John Orton of $66.00 was
accepted.
The council agreed to have M. Holzem see to having a new roof put on the cattle barn at the county
fair grounds and to have the village lumber piled up and put in shape.
Mrs. H.A. Briggs and Mrs. Zella Page representing the Village Library Board met with the council
regarding a somewhat larger levy for the library fund. Motion by Bailey and seconded by Kramer
that the levy for the library fund be increased to $750.00, motion carried.
Motion by Briggs and seconded by Leger that the following persons be approved for the library
board for the upcoming year: Mrs. C.M> Babcock, Mrs. C.W. Gaptil, and Mrs. A.B. Roehlke.
Motion by Leger and seconded by Briggs that G.A. Bailey serve as acting Mayor in case of the
absence of Mayor Davidson. Motion carried.
