SPECIAL MEETING VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
December 15, 1944
Special meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held in the Municipal building on December
15, 1944.
All members were present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Davidson.
Motion by Bailey, seconded by Leger that the council advertise for sealed bids for painting walls and
ceiling of council room, hall and library. Two coats, best grade of paint and also, for sanding and
varnishing the woodwork of some premises using gest grade materials. Motion carried. Clerk was
instructed to place such advertisement in Star News.
Motion by Leger and seconded by Bailey to reject offer of insurance company for settlement of
Liquor Store fire and demand full amount asked for. Motion carried.
Motion by Leger and seconded by Bailey that payment of insurance premium be held up until after
settlement is made. Motion carried.
Motion by Briggs and seconded Leger that G.A. Bailey be given a bonus in the amount of $50.00 for
his many years of faithful service as a member of Village Council. Motion carried.
After considerable discussion regarding the salaries of the village officers a motion was made by
Bailey and seconded by Leger that the following schedule salaries be in effect beginning of January
1, 1945: Mayor $65.00 per year, Councilmen $50.00 per year, Clerk $25.00 per month from the
general fund and $30.00 per month from the Liquor fund. Motion carried.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
