07-02-1945 VCM REGULAR MEETING VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING July 2, 1945 Regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the municipal building on July 2, 1945 with all members present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Davidson. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The matter of the condition of the Village water tank was up for consideration and it was decided an emergency existed. It was badly in need of sealing and painting. A motion was made be Leger and seconded by Kramer to enter into a contract with Dixie Task and Bridge Co. of Memphis, Tenn. To clean and scale the tank, paint the interior of the tank, and apply one spat coat and one coat of paint to the exterior. Copy of contract is on file. The motion carried. The following resolution was proposed and adopted. Be it resolved by the Village Council of the Village of Elk River, County of Sherburne and State of Minnesota. That, whereas, said Village has entered into an agreement with the State of Minnesota relative to the lighting of that portion of the Minnesota Truck Highway No. 10, which runs through said Village, when constructed or re-constructed; Now therefore, be it resolved that the Mayor or president of the Council of said Village be authorized and empowered to execute said contract for and on behalf of said Village to be attested by the Clerk thereof. Brigg – Village Clerk The Clerk was instructed to insert a notice in the Star News in the next issue asking the Co- operation of dog owners to keep dogs shut up during the month of July on account of complaints of damage to Victory Gardens. A motion was made by Leger and seconded by Skelly that Marley McPherson be appointed assistant Manager of the Municipal Liquor Store. Motion Carried. An application for a building permit was made by August Leider. Motion by Leger and seconded by Kramer that permit be granted. Motion Carried. The following Resolution was proposed by Kramer and seconded by Briggs: Whereas all the Villages in the territory surrounding Elk River, including Isanti, North Branch, Cambridge, Milaca and Princeton have indicated their intention of continuing to use War Time until otherwise ordered by the governing bodies of said municipalities and Whereas public opinion of Elk River appears to be definitely favorable to the continuance of War Time for the present. Now therefore, it is resolved by Village Council of the Village of Elk River that the Village and the residents thereof shall continue to employ War Time instead of Standard Time until further order of the Council. nd Dated this 2 day of July, 1945 Attest President of Council H.A.
