REGULAR MEETING VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
May 6, 1946
Regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the municipal building on May 6, 1946
with all members present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Davidson.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
The tabulation of the bids for the two diesel engines was up for consideration. The bids were found
to be much higher than the engineer’s estimate therefore motion was made by Skellenger and
seconded by Leger to reject all bids for the present. The motion carried.
Al Steinbart was present at the meeting and inquired about extending water and sewer past ?
residence. He was asked to contact neighbors who would be affected by the extension and present a
petition to the Council at a later meeting.
Ren. Milton Schadigg asked that the sidewalk past the Union Church be lowered at the crossing was
two high. It was moved by Leger and seconded by Kramer that the Village take proper steps to
correct the grade line of walk in front of the Church. Carried.
It was the opinion of the Council that the salaries of the employees at the Liquor Store were not
receiving adequate salary and a motion was made by Leger and seconded by Skellenger that salaries
of all Liquor Store employees be raised $5.00 per month. Motion carried.
Motion by Leger and seconded by Skellenger that Village purchase a truck from Elk River
Implement Co. Motion carried.
The Elk River Public Utilities presented a statement of valuation of Oct. 5, 1945 and upon motion
by Leger and second by Skellenger the valuation was approved. The Clerk was instructed to send a
copy to Ernst and Ernst.
