09-05-1961 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING September 5, 1961 A regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on Sept 5, 1961. All members were present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Members present: Henry Johnson, Mayor; R.G. Kemper, Lars Larson, August Meyer, Trustees; H.A. Briggs, Clerk Following building applications were approved: Ben Roper, Art Bailey Jr. and Episcopal Church. Engineer Wm Mills and Attorney MacGibbon were present at the meeting. There was discussion in regard to new street south of the new high school. The school board would like to have the village put in the street. It was suggested that the village might be willing to share the expense of the street along with the School Board. Mr. MacGibbon will talk with the school board about the matter. A motion was made by Kemper and seconded by Larson to have clerk write Lysne Const. Co in regard to a gas leak which has developed in the digester at the disposal plant. Carried. A motion was made by Larson and seconded by Meyer to have Engineer Mills make a study of the drainage problem from the peat bog to Railroad Drive and the Mississippi River. Motion carried. The clerk was asked to write the North Central Public Service Company to obtain permission before digging up streets in Elk River for gas lines.
