VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
October 2, 1961
A regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on Oct 2, 1961. All
members were present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the last
meeting were read and approved.
Members present:
Henry Johnson, Mayor; R.G. Kemper, Lars Larson, August Meyer, Trustees; H.A.
Briggs, Clerk
Mr. Robert Milne, Accountant, was present.
A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Larson to employ Mr. Milne to audit the village
books at the end of the year. Motion carried.
D.M. Hedden was present. He has trouble with drainage on his lot. Also trouble with sand washing
th
down on 8 St. The council will investigate.
James Cliff asked for a street in Paradise Park. Council will have Mr. Mills furnish grade level.
Fire Chief asked that a letter be written to the Fire Underwriters Inspection Bureau to have them
make a survey of the village fire fighting facilities including new fire truck and improved water
system.
Lester Derr would like to have a place to keep the village truck. He can make some alterations at the
creamery building so as to put the truck in there. The council said to go ahead.
Supt. Kenneth Parker, Ed Dreissig, and Mrs. Gordon Tesch representing the school board were
present. They want a street past the new school between Proctor St. and Jackson St. The council will
talk to attorney MacGibbon to see how this can be done either by the school district or the village.
Rev. Gall was at the meeting. He proposed to build a sidewalk along the church property. Village
approval was not necessary.
