07-02-1962 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING July 2, 1962 The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the village hall on July 2, 1962. All members were present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Sealed bids on the village truck and also on the police car were opened. Bids on truck: Elk River Auto Imp Co 5006.00 Nickerson Bros 5425.00 Police Car: Elk River Auto Imp Co 3185.15 Cred Old Car 1202.15 Bal 1983.00 A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Larson accept bid of Elk River Imp Co on truck of $5006.00. Motion carried all voting in favor. A motion was made by Larson and seconded by Meyer to accept bid of $1983.00 on Police car with the understanding that the 1963 model may be slightly more or less. Motion carried unanimously. Engineer Wm Mills was present. There was discussion regarding drain tile on Tipton Ave. The Council decided to have the tile cleaned out. Manager Balow of the Liquor Store reported that there is a leak above the storage room adjoining the beer cooler at the Liquor store. This will be taken care of. Mr. Mills recommended putting a seal on part of Main Street and Railroad Ave. A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Larson to authorize Mills to negotiate with McClausen regarding putting the seal coat on these streets. Carried. Archie Johnson and Earl Lindenfelser were present at the meeting. Archie Johnson agreed to have the dedication of the street past the apartments corrected as there was an error in the first deed. A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Kemper to accept the dedication of this street provided the street is stabilized and put to grade in a manner satisfactory to the village council. Carried. A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Larson to allow village of Rogers to use our swimming beach for Red Cross purposes when it is not in use. This would be on their own responsibility. Motion carried. Police Chief Oliver Micheau was present. He asked if the village will allow some amount for uniform for Police officers. A motion was made by Larson and seconded by Kemper to allow $40.00 a year for uniforms for Oliver Micheau, George Moos, and Ernest Nelson. Motion carried. Robert Kemper reported on a trip to talk with railroad officials in regard to the parking lot on Railroad Ave. The committee did not succeed in making any agreement with the railroad co. A motion was made by Larons and seconded by Meyer to authorize Mills to draw plans and specifications for storm sewer on Fourth St and Irving Ave. Carried. The following bills were approved: N.W.
