09-04-1962 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING September 4, 1962 The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on Sept 4, 1962. All members were present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Pat Kilmartin and Clem Pink were present. They would like to have the fire siren moved back to its old location on account of the noise where it is now. The council decided to have it moved. Kilmartin also asked if the County had a permit to remodel their lot for a parking lot. The mayor reported that the State Highway Department agreed to repair the Mississippi Bridge on Highway 101 as soon as possible. The Council asked the clerk to write the Town of Otsego that we will not be able to furnish fire protection to them until the bridge is put in a safe condition. The clerk was asked to send a bill to Anthony Burgoyne for $92.00 for 920 yards of clay from the dump property delivery to Mr. Kapping. Mr. E.J. Winters, representing the Minn. Equipment Co of Hopkins, Minn was present. He had already demonstrated his Seweroder Machine. The price is to be $4,650.20. A motion was made by Larson and seconded by Kemper to accept the machine at $600.00 down plus freight and about $370.00 per month until the full amount is paid. This agreement to be in effect provided the village attorney decides it is legal. The following persons representing the Monticello-Big Lake Community Hospital District were present and asked that the Village of Elk River join the district: All Christensen. Paul Eggena, Amos Zam Brumer, Scott Mitchell, Meribeth Olson, Oliver Knutson and George Phillips. They reported that Elk River Township and Otsego had already agreed to join. A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Briggs to adopt a resolution joining this hospital district. Motion carried all voting in favor. The clerk was asked to mail a check for $200.00 to the N.P. Ry Co to pay the expense of moving the snow fence on the proposed parking lot on railroad property, they to prepare lease on the lot.
