11-04-1963 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING November 4, 1963 The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the village hall on Nov. 4, 1963. Members present Johnson, Meyer, Larson, and Briggs. Norris was absent. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Robert Broas, representing the Bell Telephone Co, was present. He explained an automatic answering system for the police department which will be installed as soon as the dial system is in operation. A motion was made by Larson and seconded by Meyer to accept the Bell Co. proposition. Carried. Mr. Broas complimented the village on its fine cooperation to date. Motion by Meyer and seconded by Larson to vacate 10 feet on the east side of Morton Ave from the Shadick corner south. Motion carried. The council agreed to do some filling and leveling on the street past the Lindenfelser apartments. Clifford Gustafson has purchased Shorty Christian’s beer tavern and made an application for on and off beer license. His references will be contacted before license is issued. Engineer Wm Mills was present and made a preliminary report on storm sewer construction. More work needs to be done before applying for Federal Aid for the project. Following building permits were approved: A.F. Jarmaluck, Tony Moos, Lloyd Barthel. A motion was made by Larson and seconded by Meyer to apply for federal aid for the storm sewer project. Motion carried. A motion was made by Larson and second by Meyer to open polls at the December village election at 9:00 A.M. and close at 7:00 P.M.
