DISCUSSION:
• In September, the locators processed 650 locate tickets. These consistedof 6 emergency
tickets, 551 normal tickets, 2 non-excavation tickets, 60 updated tickets, 15
cancellations and 16 locate meets. This resulted in a 5.7% increase of tickets from the
previous month and a 39.2% increase over the prior year.
• Electrical Technicians completed 220 service order tasks, updated the power bill,
performed weekly substation checks, dealt with customer meter issues and off-peak
concerns. The electrical techs continue disconnecting the remaining off-peak radios on
the system as time allows. Approximately 75% of the 496 radios have been
disconnected at this time.
• On September 16, staff ran generators #1, #2, & #4. With the Lake Orono drawdown, we
needed to switch to city water to cool the generators. A procedure was developed and
will be used until the lake level is restored in 2021. Available emergency generation
capacity will be diminished during this time. Thank you to water staff for their assistance
in determining valve configuration and operation.
• Mapping department continues to update points and attributes for our systems assets
within the ESRI ArcView GIS system. Staff continues to assist the water department with
on-call rotation support.
• The repaired voltage regulators were installed and programmed on September 11.
However, there was an issue with one that was still malfunctioning. It was removed
again from service and EIR Testing & Maintenance picked it up to further investigate the
issue. We are expecting to have it back in October.
