DISCUSSION:
Delivered 3 new water meters.
Sealed the water meter, installed encoder receiver transmitter,and took curb stop ties
from 4 water services.
Completed 15 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples
o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria.
o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH
Completed 21 routine fluoride samples
o All samples met MDH standards.
o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report
Submitted Discharge Monitoring Report for theDiesel Generation Plant to the
Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.
The total cost for repairing the damaged 24-inch water main that was struck by a soil
boring machine in August at Highway 169 and School Street is $26,198.39. ERMU staff
labor made up $4,099.80 of that cost. Hiring Brenteson Companies to cut out and
replace the damaged section of water main, plus restoration of the site, was $22,098.59.
In addition to these costs the estimated amount of water lost was 200,000 gallons which
would equate to $714.42 at the Tier 1 water rate.
Water department staff worked closely with city staff to drawdown LakeOrono within
DNR regulations for the Lake Orono Restoration and Enhancement project
Water Operator Derek Palmer started on September 21.
The water operators discovered a leaking water main gate valve at the intersection of

program. The bolts holding the valve together had corroded to the point of failure,
causing the valve to leak. There are three valves located in this intersection; ERMU staff
excavated the street and replaced the bolts on all three valves
