A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER
A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CITY OF ELK RIVER
GROWTH MANAGEMENT PLAN
after the City of Elk River and Elk River Township
consolidated in 1978, the City Council approved a City
of Elk River Land Use Plan and Map; and,
since the City and Township consolidated, the new City
has experienced a substantial amount of growth and
development; and,
since this growth and development has taken place, the
City Council has seen a need to update its 1980 Land
Use Map in order to have the community prepared for
future growth and development; and,
the City Council established a Growth Management Plan
Task Force in the winter of 1986/87 and charged this
Task Force with the development of a Growth Management
Plan; and,
WHEREAS, the Growth Management Plan Task Force and City Staff
and City Consultants met on a monthly basis for
approximately eighteen months in order to put a Growth
Management Plan together; and,
.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a public hearing and
recommended approval of the Growth Management Plan on
May 31, 1988; and,
WHEREAS, the Growth Management Plan was reviewed by the City
Council at a public hearing on June 27, 1988; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council concurred and agreed with the
components of the Growth Management Plan and the
recommendation of the Planning Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Elk River that the 1988 Growth Management Plan is
hereby approved and adopted and will function as the
City of Elk River Comprehensive Plan pursuant to
Minnesota Statutes Section 462.351 through 462.356.
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Elk River,
this 22nd day of August, 1988.
