Oath of Office for new Firefighters Cal Portner, City Administrator
Action Requested
Mayor to administer the oath of office to the department’s newest members: Mark Wandersee, and Joe
Libor, Jr. Following the oath, badges will be pinned to their uniforms by a representative of their choice.
Background/Discussion
On Monday, Oct. 26, 2020, Mark Wandersee and Joe Libor Jr., were hired as fulltime firefighters with
the City of Elk River. Mark is the Assistant Fire Chief of Operations and Training; and, Joe Libor, Jr. is
the Deputy Chief of Administration.
Mark comes to us with 23 plus years of firefighting and Emergency Medical experience. Joe Libor, Jr.
worked for the Elk River Ambulance Service and has been an on-call firefighter and Lieutenant with us for 7
years. This addition provides the department with four fulltime firefighters who can also respond to calls
during the day.
