DISCUSSION:
TheBoard of Director of the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA) met virtually
on October 27, 2020. Both Commissioner Mary Stewart and I were in attendance.
We are preparingfor Mark Fuchs’ retirement thisDecember which involves
transitioning/training replacements. We posted the Operations Director position
internally onOctober 13. Tom Geiser was theonly applicant andwill becomethe new
Operations Director. We posted the Electric Superintendent position internally on
October 26. Chris Sumstad was the only applicant and will become the new Electric
Superintendent. We have posted the Line Foreperson position internally through Friday,
November 13. This will likely result in an open position to post, with another open
position resulting after that position is filled. We anticipate eventually needing to fill a
lineworker position externally. We will continue to update the Commission as this
transitioning occurs.
We have an initiative on our dashboard for a substation east of Highway 169 along
Highway 10 by 2025. I have been researching options for this.
The addition of Megan Zachman, our new HR Generalist, has been wonderful. She has
jumped right in, made introductions, and is preparing for open enrollment meetings
next week Tuesday, November 17.
I had my first quarterly meeting October 23 with Greg Ridderbusch, the President and
CEO of Connexus Energy.
