VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
July 13, 1964
A hearing was held on July 13, 1964 on project on street, storm sewer, curb and gutter, sanitary
sewer and water. Present Mayor Johnson, Meyer, Norris, Briggs, Richard Halter, Otis Nickerson,
Engineer Mills, Ed Dreissig. There was discussion but no one offered any serious objections.
Mrs. Mildred Christianson appeared. She is one of the heirs of the John Vaca estate. She agreed to
clear out corn crib, barn and silo so as to straighten School Street. Others present at the meeting
were Paul Carton and Albert Bailey.
A motion was made by Norris and seconded by Meyer to accept contract with A.N. Johnson Co.
and authorize clerk and mayor to sign contract for the village. Motion carried.
Motion by Meyer and second by Briggs to give notice of hearing on water line from Manor Place to
Angel Street if it becomes necessary. Carried.
Lester Derr plans to run for County Commissioner. A motion was made by Norris and seconded by
Briggs to give Derr permission to run for commissioner and if elected it shall not jeopardize his job
or salary with the village. Motion carried.
At this meeting the council approved a building permit for Joseph Gutzwiller to build a garage.
The council also agreed to have a sign posted at the village park on lake “no overnight parking”.
