04-18-1966 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING April 18, 1966 The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Elk River Village Council was called to order on April 18 by Mayor Coles. All members were present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Liquor Store Manager, Robert Reynolds was present. The matter of union wages at the Liquor Store was brought up. It was decided to offer the Bar Tenders Union a raise in wages of 5 cents – 5 cents and 5 cents per hour for the next three years for bar tenders and 4 cents – 3 cents and 3 cents for waitresses. Also no more holidays, three weeks vacation after seven years. A motion was made by Syring and seconded by Hudson to buy an automatic glass washer for the Liquor Store. Motion carried. Lester Derr was present. He will see Engineer Mills regarding an overall plan for drainage. The following hours were set up for the Village dump: thst Starting April 25 and ending May 21 Mondays 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Wednesdays 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Thursdays 1 P.M. to 8 P.M. Saturdays 8 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. st After May 21 Summer Hours Thursdays 1 P.M. to 8 P.M. Saturdays 9 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. A motion was made by Bartelt and seconded by Syring to Authorize Husdon and Derr to look at a used pickup and buy it if they think next. Motion carried. The Clerk was asked to call Mr. Firehammer and ask Mr. Aud, Mrs. Firehammer to be at he next regular meeting to discuss the assessor’s work. The matter of hiring a police officer was brought up and discussed. A motion was made by Hudson and seconded by Briggs to offer R.E. Sveska of Grand Meadow the position at a salary of $385.00 per month for six month. There being no further business the meeting adjourned. H.A. Briggs Village Clerk
