RESOLUTION 89 - 15
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE MOTOR VEHICLE EXCISE TAX
TRANSFER TO THE ROAD USER FUND
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Elk River is concerned
about adequate financial resources to meet the
transportation needs within the Elk River area;
and,
WHEREAS, the street and highway system needs within the Elk
River area are similar to the street and highway needs
throughout the State of Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, the improvement of the transportation system is a high
priority to the City of Elk River and it appears that
the highway system is deteriorating at a faster rate
than the financial ability to maintain and rebuild the
system; and,
WHEREAS, the City and County highway and street plans are
dependent upon the Motor Vehicle Excise Tax (MVET) and
the need for adequate funding is essential for an
adequate system to be maintained.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Elk River that the City Council supports the 100%
transfer of MVET to the Road User Fund in order to
provide a stable source of adequate funding for the
construction and maintenance of streets and highways in
the State of Minnesota.
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Elk River
this 27 day of February, 1989.
