DISCUSSION:
In the last 30 days, the level two charger located downtown had 26 sessions and
provided customers with 566 kWh of green energy. The DC fast charger at the Coborns
fuel station had 25 sessions and provided 332 kWh. The charger in the ERMU/City Hall
parking lot had 10 sessions and provided customers with 81 kWh. There was a total of
61 charging sessions and 979 kWh of energy provided over the last 30 days.
Staff is currently working to connect three residential solar photovoltaic systems.
Attended the Midwest Municipal Transmission Group Virtual Annual Meeting. The
meetings discussions focused on the review of financials, annual dues, and the addition
of new members.
There has been a flurry of commercial rebate requests submitted and staff is working
with customers and contractors to get them completed by the end of the year.
Attended a virtual seminar put on by the Great Plains Institute about a proposed Clean
Fuels Policy for the Midwest. The transportation sector is currently the highest emitter
of greenhouse gasesin Minnesota and there is a strong likelihood that this policy will
come forward in the 2021 legislative session. The expectation is that electric vehicles
will factor into any new clean fuel policies that move forward.
There was great discussion at the last Energy City Commission(ECC) meeting that
centered on the Social Cost of Carbon, which is a valuation methodology that
establishes a monetary value for the long-term costs of greenhouse gases. The ECC will
continue to research this valuation tool and will provide more information at future
meetings.
