RESOLUTION 89-38
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE COMMISSIONER OF TRANSPORTATION
TO STUDY CERTAIN ROADS IN THE CITY OF ELK RIVER
FOR THE PURPOSE OF ESTABLISHING SPEED ZONES
WHEREAS,
the Elk River City Council has determined that
there are streets in the City of Elk River upon
which the designated speed zone is of concern to
the Council; and,
WHEREAS,
Minnesota Statute requires that the City Council
request the Commissioner of Transportation to
investigate appropriate speed zones in the areas of
question with the City of Elk River; and,
WHEREAS,
the City's request to the Commissioner of
Transportation for the investigation and eventual
establishment of speed zones must be made by
resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Elk River that the Commissioner of
Transportation is hereby requested by the Council
to investigate the following streets within the
City of Elk River for the purpose of establishing
the appropriate speed zones:
Fillmore Street;
175th Avenue NW;
173rd Avenue NW;
Tyler Street.
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Elk River
this 5th day of June, 1989.

Reference Petition for Speed Reduction

This is to inform you that Mr. Steve Theis who lives at
17675 Fillmore Street has delivered a petition to the
police department reference speeding on Fillmore Street,
175th Avenue NW, 173rd Avenue NW and Tyler Street. The
petition consists of (24) twenty-four signatures from
residents in the area of concern.
I informed Mr. Theis that I would forward this petition to
the City Council along with a recommendation for a speed
study to be done.
I'm, therefore, requesting that the Elk River City Council
pass a resolution requesting the MN Department of Trans-
portation to conduct a speed study on the above mentioned
streets for the purpose of possible speed limit reduction.
