Background/Discussion The Natural Resources Mineral Excavation ordinance language currently details the annual license period as January through December. Issuing the annual license for July through June better meets the needs and intent of this ordinance. This schedule allows for annual license application and site visits to be completed in the spring before significant work begins for gravel mining operations. The license period is also detailed in the annual license for each operator. Updated: August 2020 Strikethroughs to be removed Underlines to be added Ordinance 21 - ____ An Ordinance Amending Chapter 42, Section 56, Term of License of the City of Elk River, Minnesota, City Code The City Council of the City of Elk River does hereby ordain as follows: SECTION 1. That § Section 42-56, Term of license of the City of Elk River Code of Ordinances shall be amended to read as follows: An extraction license shall run from January 1 through December 31 July 1 through June 30 of the following same year, or for a lesser period of time as the council may specify at the time of issuance of the extraction license. If the extraction license is to run for less than a full year, the extraction license fee shall be prorated as determined by the council. SECTION 4. That this ordinance shall take effect upon adoption and be published as provided by law.
