City of Elk River-Branding Proposal
Proposal
The City of Elk River is looking for proposals from an architectural firm/ interior designer to develop
environmental graphic standards for the new Multipurpose Facility- with two premier ice arenas, indoor fieldhouse,
senior center and banquet/meeting spaces – now officially known as the Furniture and Things Community
Event Center.
The city wants to be proactive in creating design standards that help with organizing and defining the graphic
design for such items as banners and signage elements that will be added to the facility by facility partners such
as the high school, naming rights consultant, youth organizations and other interested groups. A Facilities
Commission made up of citizen volunteers will review the proposals with staff.

Please submit this proposal/contract to provide consultation services to develop environmental graphic
standards for the new Furniture and Things Community Event Center. The proposal can be organized in the
following manner:

1. PROJECT UNDERSTANDING
The City of Elk River want to contract with a firm to develop environmental graphic standards for the
Furniture and Things Community Event Center. The services will include the following tasks:
• Banner Signage Design
o Color palette: including primary and secondary colors to use
o Layouts: recommend layouts and sizes per piece
o Typography: font styles and size standards
o Logos/Images: recommend logos/images and their typical placement within the layout
• Graphic Imagery Development
o Suggest locations for graphic displays
o Develop graphic ideas based on the initial work completed by 292 during the building design
phase
o Develop options to allow graphics to be incorporated into the facility over time
• Implementation
o Display guidelines: hanging heights and spacing
o Materials: type and thickness
o Methods: recommend hanging and fastener methods
o Placement: recommend locations in the building
2. SCOPE OF SERVICES
The scope of services includes the following:
• Floor plans showing locations for the different types of graphics
• Graphic artwork in Ai file format
• Meetings with facility management, marketing, and interested stakeholders to brainstorm and help
define the scope of the environmental graphics plan
• Develop a user-friendly design manual to provide to prospective project partners, including
advertisers, youth sports associations, high school/school district, senior center partners, etc.

3. PROFESSIONAL FEES
Professional fees related to the above-mentioned scope of work includes all
expenses and will be billed as a lump sum commensurate with the work
completed. Please breakdown your fees per phase of work.

This Agreement may be terminated by the Owner upon not less than seven days' written notice to the
Architect for the Owner's convenience and without cause.
In the event of termination not the fault of the Architect, the Architect shall be compensated for services
performed prior to termination, together with reimbursable expenses then due.
Reimbursable expenses include the following:
• Printing, plotting, and reproduction expenses associated with the project.
• Long distance telephone charges
• Express mail and delivery handling charges for project communications.
• Photographic expenses related to the project.
• Fees paid for securing approval of authorities with jurisdiction over the project.
This proposal will be reviewed by the Furniture and Things Community Event Center Commission and staff.
The work may commence after the review and approval by the Commission. City Council will provide final
approval
