UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO:
ERMU Commission
FROM:
Michelle Canterbury – Executive Administrative Manager
MEETING DATE:
February 9, 2021
AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
6.1f
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
ACTION REQUESTED:
None
DISCUSSION:
• Reminder that the annual Commissioner Orientation will be held in March. Rather than
schedule a special meeting, staff is proposing conducting the orientation at the March 9,
2021 Regular Commission Meeting. If there are any specific topics or training the
commission would like covered, please let staff know. Also, please be sure to bring your
Governance Commission Policy ring binger to the orientation as we will be updating any
policies that have been added or changed over the past year.
• Inserts for the February billings include a promotional flyer for Automatic Bill Payment,
and our Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Program. Attached are copies of the two bill
inserts.
• January and February social media posts will feature a variety of topics including: bad
home heating habits - saving energy while staying comfortable, sign up for automatic
bill pay and receive a $5 credit, ERMU’s EV charging program featuring an affordable
time-of-use rate and up to a $500 rebate towards the purchase of an in home EV
charger, and several public service announcements such as dates of upcoming
commission meetings and holiday business closures.
• This month’s featured social media post is The Cost of Doing Nothing: LED Lighting
Upgrade. While typically our social media posts are geared more towards our residential
customers, we are always looking at ways to educate our commercial customers and
earn their attention on social media. This month’s featured post includes a video geared
towards businesses that are considering upgrading to LED lighting, but are worried it’s
too costly. The video shines a light on how much it costs a business to NOT upgrade. The
video link is provided below.
• The Communications Department has been busy working on the 2020 Annual Report
and anticipates having it completed in time to go out with the March billings.

What is a Time-of-Use Rate?
With the TOU rate, you have the flexibility to
charge your vehicle whenever you need. The
meter dedicated to your EV charger adjusts the
rate based on the time of day, or day of the week
you’re charging. Charging on weekends and
holidays receives the $.0602 rate at all times.
