Action Requested
Approve, by motion, Fire Station #3 - Bid Category #5A Steel Supply to Distinctive Iron in the amount of
$382,956.25.
Background/Discussion
At the February 4, 2021, meeting, Council approved a rebid of category #5A Steel Supply since only one bid was
submitted.
This rebid was posted in the Star News on February 6 and 13. A total of six bids were received and publicly
opened on February 18, 2021.
The total amount is higher than the bid last month since it was found that some fabricated steel details were not
originally identified. This would have ended up being a more expensive change order during the project. The
difference will not increase the total project budget.

RE: City of Elk River Fire Station #3 | Bid Category #5A Steel Supply – Rebid Recommendation
Dear Mr. Wisner,
Terra Construction (Terra) received bids at the City of Elk River on Thursday, February 18, 2021 for the
above referenced project. A total of six (6) bids were received and read aloud. A copy of this bid
tabulation is attached.
Terra has completed its review of the bids and recommend to the City Council that they approve the
award of the contracts as follows for Bid Category #5A Steel Supply.
Addendum #6 was issued during this re‐bid that added seven (7) custom fabricated steel details at the
transom windows that were previously not shown in the construction documents. Distinctive Iron did
acknowledge receipt of all six (6) addendum on their bid form and during our post‐bid scope review
with them, they did confirm that these were included in their bid.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Respectfully Submitted,
Terra Construction
