SUBJECT: Request Authorization to Execute DNR Conservation Partners
Grant
Item:
Elk River has applied for, and been awarded, a Conservation Partners Grant by the DNR.
This $6,000 grant is for restoration of 6.3 acres of prairie and woodland in Highlands
East Park (Hillside Estates Subdivision). The Department of Natural Resources requires a
council resolution authorizing staff to execute grant agreement.
The 2005 Parks capital budget included $10,000 for this project. Actual costs to the city
for a $12,000 restoration project will be $6,000.
Action Requested:
Authorize staff to execute grant agreement for the restoration of Highlands East Park

A RESOLUTION FOR THE CITY OF ELK RIVER
AUTHORIZING STAFF TO EXECUTE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL
RESOURCES CONSERVATION PARTNERS AND ENVIRONMENTAL
PARTNERSHIPS
WHEREAS
the City of Elk River act as the legal sponsor for the Conservation
Partners Grant CP05-012 Highland Park; and
WHEREAS
the City of Elk River has the fmancial capability to meet the match
requirements and ensure adequate completion of the project and
certifies that it will comply with all applicable laws and regulations as
stated in the grant agreement;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Parks and Recreation Director Bill
Maertz is hereby authorized to execute the Conservation Partners Grant Agreement CP05-
012 necessary to implement the project on behalf of the City of Elk River.
