DISCUSSION:
• In February, the locators processed93locate tickets. These consistedof 2 emergency
tickets, 65 normal tickets, 1 non-excavation ticket, 14 updated tickets, 6 cancellations,
and 5 locate meets. This resulted in a 32.1% decrease intickets from the previous
monthand a 13.4% increase over the prior year. The locators continue to GPS and
validate datafor our electric mapsas time allows.
• Electrical Technicians completed 124 service order tasks, updated the power bill,
performed weekly substation checks, attended to customer meter issues and off-peak
concerns.
• On February 22, staff ran generators #1, #2, #3 & #4 and used city water for cooling of
the generators again without any issues. We will continue to use city water until lake
Orono is returned to normal levels.
• Mapping department staff has been working with mPower to complete the Integrator
software implementation. The planned rollout has been delayed due to unforeseen
database configuration issues with our existing GIS system. mPower is still working with
National Information Solutions Cooperative to complete the integration of CIS with
Integrator.
• Our new Substation Apparatus Technician, Jon Wadsworth started on March 1. He has
already been making suggestions for improvements in processes and will be a good fit
with the rest of the ERMU team.
• Tony Hubbard, our Electrical Technician/Electrician, attended the Minnesota Municipal
Utilities Association’s (MMUA) Metering School at their training center in Marshall, MN,
February 9-12. Topics included: electric meter safety, current transformer/voltage
transformer metering, and theft of electric power. Tony said that it was a great
refresher course as well as a good opportunity to network with his peers.
