Approve, by motion, the hiring of Trudie Falk to the position of part-time human resources assistant effective
March 16, 2021.
Background/Discussion
The 2021 budget includes the addition of a part-time human resources assistant. We went to market to fill this
position and received 143 applications. Interviews were offered to 10 candidates and two returned for a second
interview. Following reference and background checks, staff recommends Trudie Falk for the position.
Ms. Falk has been working in the government sector for seven of the past eight years, taking a year off to
complete her Business Administration/Human Resources degree. While working for the City of Ham Lake she
assumed the human resources responsibilities when the incumbent HR representative resigned, and found she
enjoys human resources. Her current position is part-time in the building inspections department for the City of
Ramsey.
Ms. Falk will start at step A of pay grade 5N. As a regular part-time employee, she is eligible for prorated leave
benefits. All pay and benefits will be consistent with city policy. Ms. Falk will work mornings at City Hall and
continue to work afternoons at the City of Ramsey.

This is a budgeted position.
