I. Call Meeting to Order
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the special meeting of the Elk River Parks and
Recreation Commission was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Williams.
2. Discuss Orono Park Plans
Mr. Hecker introduced consultant Tim Wold, SRF Consulting,Byron Munoz,HCM
Architects, and Tim Mcllwain, HCM Architects.
Members reviewed the Orono Park Master Plan and cost estimates.
Tim McIlwain shared building plans.
Tim Wold shared park plans.
Commission members discussed the status of shelter#3,looking at if the cost is too high
to rebuild then keeping the shelter in place.
Commission members also discussed the pond near the skate park and if it can be
minimized by changing the shape or installing a pipe.
Commissioner Anderson asked who will maintain the high level of landscaping of park.
Mr. Hecker stated the current maintenance staff will maintain it and possibly need to
simplify it.
Councilmember Wagner asked if there will be enough staff to be able to maintain the
plantings in the landscaping.
Commissioner Anderson shared that the pickleball courts preferred dimension backcourt
would be ten feet, 8-foot sides and 14 feet in between,benches facing the courts, and
having three gates to access the courts.

There being no further business, Chair Williams adjourned the meeting of the Elk River
Parks and Recreation Commission work session at 7:55 p.m.
